On Sunday, May 3, 2015 Sima will be a guest speaker at the Beth Ora Congregation in Ville St-Laurent, Montreal for their Annual Women’s Brunch celebrating Mother’s Day and all women. The brunch will take place on Sunday morning starting at 9:30am.
Sima will recount her extraordinary journey and reflect on her belief in freedom of choice. She is a strong advocate for rights, specifically the rights of women. In 1981 her mother heard that she was on Hezbollah’s list. That was when Sima went into hiding, leaving school and her family. After living from city to city; and at the age of 17, her mother handed her over to smugglers to bring her to Pakistan and from there, to Canada. Her book “Fleeing the Hijab” is a true account of how she crossed the most dangerous desert in the world rather than accept the restrictions of life in Iran. Dr. Goel will explain how she fulfilled a promise to herself – to speak out and share her belief that freedom is the most precious commodity of all.
Dr. Goel believes that when we know who we are, when are are taking good care of ourselves, we are better able to care for and inspire those around us. As women, we have such an important role to play, as role models for our children, for the next generation and those around us. Serving others should not come before taking care of our own needs. We should not serve out of obedience and obligation, but it is our duty to take care of ourselves first in order to be able to help our loved ones and our communities from our own abundance of energy and fulfillment. She is looking forward to discussing this with attendees of the Annual Women’s Brunch.
The event is for women only. Please be sure to reserve spots for yourself and your favourite ladies.
